When the Apostle Paul visited Athens, he wasn’t inaugurating a new alternative religion, nor was he visiting on behalf of the religion that he had served in his entire life. This image of the Areopagus is where Paul deconstructs religion to the Greeks, and invites them into a new perspective on faith. Paul uses poetry from the Greeks themselves, along with their very own spiritual history to show them that they are not very far from the deeper understanding.
