Roughly 40% of Americans suffer from either anxiety (21.4%) or depression (18.2%). Our psycho/medical approach to the problem views this as a neurotransmitter problem and as a result a large percentage of our country is on medication to work out these problems. My question is this: If treating this condition with psychotropic medication is truly the path of healing, then why has the problem only enlarged as treatments become available? Why aren’t these therapies returning the masses back to a normal, healthy homeostasis?

I’m not a medical doctor, nor a therapist, so do not take this series as medical advice, nor as advice to change your medication in any way. Always consult your provider to make any changes. I’m a theologian and a philosopher, so I will offer a very different perspective which I hope can help you along your path. While anecdotal, I am one who has suffered with anxiety. I have employed these perspectives in my own life and it has had tremendous results. Many of my listeners have been helped by this perspective, maybe you can too.

Take this very seriously and discuss any changes you’d like to make with your therapist or medical provider. Failure to do so can truly create bigger problems in your chemical balances and lead you to a worse condition.

Join me as we go back to episodes of the KevKast from 2016, to listen to one of my longest standing series with among the top number of downloads.
