Is the Church supposed to be a building, a people, or a business? Some would say all three. When Jesus said he would “build his church,” do you think he envisioned the 45,000 denominations which exist today? If not, then which one is the “True” Church? Chat GPT says Jesus started Catholicism. The Mormon’s believe they are the real Church, and of course protestants each have their own assumptions too.
People say there is a Starbucks on every corner, but in reality, there are twenty-five times more churches than Starbucks, and each one operates like a business. Do you suppose Jesus was envisioning that our world would have 5 Million paid pastors and clergy members? How many of Jesus’ disciples did he pay to go and share the Gospel? Why did Paul say he’d rather die than take a dime for sharing the Gospel?
This series picks the scabs off of this subject which should be a cause of serious concern for believers. We have become so accustomed to the modern business of the Religious Industrial Complex and it’s Corporate Gospel, that we have lost sight of Jesus’ own Blueprint for his “community, gathering, assembly” or what we have called “church.”
Follow along as a fly on the wall and hear for yourself Jesus’ design for his disciples, then compare it to what you call “Church” today. You can thank me later, if you have the courage to listen to the whole series.
